Privacy Policy

Postscript reads your WhatsApp exports on your own device. Your chats are never uploaded to us or anyone else. This page explains exactly what we do keep, and your rights.
Who we are
Postscript is made by Mundhra Labs (Aditya Mundhra), India. For this policy we are the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Your chats stay on your device
When you open a chat export, it is read by code running in your browser and stored only in that browser's storage on your device. Messages, names inside chats, phone numbers, photos, voice notes and files are never sent to our servers. You can remove any chat, or all of them, at any time. If you make a backup file, it is created on your device and goes only where you save it.
What we do collect
- Your account: the name and email you give us.
- Counts: how many chats you keep in Postscript (private and group), the labels you give them (like "Family", never chat names), how many chats you have opened, a rough size of each (like "1k to 10k messages"), books and links you made, days you used the app, last seen, phone type and app version.
- Share links you choose to create: the summary shown on that link (counts, daily rhythm, personalities, and, if you leave them on, names and top words). Never messages, photos or phone numbers.
- Feedback you send us, and app errors (the error message, file and line, with no chat content).
- Anonymous usage before you join: a random device code and events like "opened the app".
Why
To run your account, understand how Postscript is used so we can improve it, reply to you, prevent abuse, and show share links you create. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data to train AI.
Where it is stored
Account data, counts, share links and feedback are stored with Supabase (database, Mumbai region). The website is served by Cloudflare. Both act as our processors.
How long
We keep your account data until you delete your account. Share links stay until you delete your account. Anonymous events and error logs are kept up to 12 months.
Your rights
You can see what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Delete your account from the account button on the home page: this removes your name, email, counts and share links. For anything else, or to raise a grievance, write to [email protected]. We aim to reply within 7 days. You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Other people in your chats
Your chats include other people's messages. Postscript keeps them on your device only. Please be thoughtful about what you share in links and cards.
Children
Postscript is meant for people 18 and over.
Browser storage
We use your browser's storage to keep your chats and settings on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
